Flood Preparedness Poster
OSHA’s Emergency Action Plans (EAP) standard states that required EAPs should address “emergencies that employers can reasonably expect in the workplace….fire; toxic chemical releases; hurricanes; tornadoes; blizzards; floods; and others.” (1910 Subpart E, App.)
Flooding causes more damage in the United States than any other severe weather related event, costing an average of $4.6 billion in damages and medical expenses and killing 140 people annually. Flooding can occur in any of the 50 states at any time during the year, but is a specific risk to anyone living or working near a coastline, river, or dam.
Personnel Concepts’ Flood Preparedness Poster explains the different types of floods, lists recommended precautions, and includes specific instructions for what to do before, during, and after a flood. It’s designed to help affected employers meet their obligations under OSHA’s
standard relating to disaster preparedness and emergency action plans.
Who Needs It?
Recommended for all businesses located near coastlines, rivers or dams.
