The agency firmly recommends any measure to implement a "zero tolerance" workplace violence policy. According to an OSHA fact sheet, workplace violence prevention is a hazard prevention requirement under the 29 U.S.C. 654(a)(1), the OSH Act's General Duty Clause. Under the General Duty clause, employers are required to provide a form of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards.
