Employers Need to Update Their Labor Law Posters for the New GINA-EEOC Panel

GINA goes into effect Nov. 21, and the new EEOC panel contains the law's regulations

Oct 30, 2009

ONTARIO, Calif.—The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) takes effect for employers with 15 or more on staff Nov. 21, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has already revised its mandatory “Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law” poster to reflect GINA regulations, Personnel Concepts advises.

The new poster, which has already been incorporated into Personnel Concepts’ Space Saver-1 All-On-One State and Federal Labor Law Poster series, also promulgates new regulations for the Americans With Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAAA).

Current holders of the SS-1 Labor Law Poster must replace their EEOC panel with the November 2009 version. Update subscribers will automatically be mailed the replacement panels. Others may obtain one by calling Customer Service at (800) 333-3795. Those purchasing new SS-1 Labor Law Posters will find the correct panel in place already.

“GINA and ADAAA both represent major sea changes in labor law,” said Robert Leland, director of research for personnel concepts. “Employers need to bring both their posters and their policies up to date immediately.”
