Under the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act (CHIPRA), employees in 38 states are entitled to apply for health premium assistance for themselves and their dependants via state Medicaid and children’s health programs. CHIPRA requires employers to provide a notice informing employee health plan participants of their right to apply for such assistance and whom to contact within their state for more information. REVISED TO REFLECT NEW CHIPRA FORM AND STATE PARTICIPATION (effective 3-13-2012) Compliance Deadlines: ► May 1, 2010 for group health plans that begin between Feb. 4, 2010, and May 1, 2010 ► Jan. 1, 2011 for all other group health plans (calendar plans beginning after May 1, 2010) Who Needs It (*The states that do not participate in CHIPRA are AR, CA, CT, DE, HI, IL, MD, MI, MS, NM, OH, and TN.
