Vermont Labor Law Poster: Minimum Wage to Rise on Jan. 1, 2012

Nov 7, 2011

The Vermont Department of Labor has updated and released its Minimum Wage notice for 2012.

Effective Jan. 1, 2012, the minimum wage rate will increase from $8.15 per hour to $8.46 per hour. The basic wage rate for service or tipped employees will also increase from $3.95 per hour with a maximum tip credit of $4.20 per hour to $4.10 per hour with a maximum tip credit of $4.36 per hour.

Vermont's minimum wage increases at the same rate as the Consumer Price Index (CPI), as calculated in August for the preceding year, or at 5%, whichever is less.

Other changes to the notice include the 2008 rates for both the minimum wage and basic wages being removed from the notice. According to the agency, this change is mandatory and all employers are required to update their notices dated 10/10 with the current version dated 10/11.

Poster update subscribers will receive the new panel by mail, and others may call Personnel Concepts Customer Service at (800) 333-3795 to inquire about obtaining one.
