REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
Among other provisions, HIPAA regulations require covered entities to do all of the following:
- Implement policies and procedures to protect the privacy of personal health information (PHI)
- Implement security controls to protect the integrity and confidentiality of electronic personal health information (EPHI).
- Prohibit discrimination in health benefits based upon certain protected health factors.
- Provide notices where required regarding portability, creditable coverage, privacy, and security.
